Pathfinder’s response to the July 2025 UN Report
'From economy of occupation to economy of genocide'

As an ethical investor, Pathfinder often explores complex and evolving ethical issues related to where we invest our members’ money. As such, our team are currently researching the companies we hold that are listed in Francesa Albanese’s UN report.
This report investigates the corporate machinery involved in Israel’s actions in the occupied Palestinian territory. It also raises serious additional concerns over technology companies profiting from potentially anti-humanitarian applications of their products/services – including weaponry, surveillance and control technologies.
The report was discussed at our recent Ethics and Investment Committee meeting. We have added the companies we hold, that are listed in the Albanese report, to our Companies of Concern Register. In accordance with our Ethical Investment Policy, companies of concern are investigated by our investment team to see whether they are consistent with our policy.
While we are confident that none of these companies breach our exclusions list, we understand that’s not always sufficient, which is why we may also exclude companies for controversial behaviours and/or being involved in inconsistent activities.
We see this issue as a priority for our research at present, however, given its complexity, in terms of our timeline, this will likely unfold over a matter of months, not weeks.
In the meantime, we recommend reading our Ethical Investment Policy, which clearly outlines our weapons exclusions. And you might be interested in a recent article we wrote on the topic covering our position on war, investment in Israeli companies, our divestment of Caterpillar and the distinction between the need for security and the economy of conflict.
If you have any questions, we’d be happy to answer them via our Customer Service team.
We hope it heartens our members to know that Pathfinder aims to avoid investing in weapons, that we are champions of non-violent conflict resolution and decry both the humanitarian and environmental outcomes of war, generally.
The team.
