Important updates to our ethical investing documents - July 2024
We're constantly thinking about how we can improve and elevate our approach to investing and investing ethically.
We're constantly thinking about how we can improve and elevate our approach to investing and investing ethically. As part of this, we have made some changes to important investing documents. Please see below for descriptions of the changes and links to the new documents.
Changes to our Ethical Investment Policy
1. Greater explanation of exclusions, companies of concern, exceptions, divestment procedures and revenue thresholds.
2. Inclusion of revised “mega” positive investment themes (healthy planet, healthy living, deglobalisation, digitisation, social license).
3. Tidied up language in Appendix 1 (exclusions) for consistency. Added additional explanation around exceptions for animal testing – no change to substance of the exclusions. To explore our animal testing exclusions and exceptions and the reasons behind them, check out our article on Animal Testing.
4. While we strive for our investments to comply with our Ethical Investing Policy, we acknowledge that ethics isn't binary and the world is changing at a fast pace. We also acknowledge that there will be limitations and inconsistency in the available information on which our decisions are based. For example, a change in a company’s activities may not be publicly available until after its annual report is published. The new Appendix 4 sets out how we aim to address these issues in the context of these limitations.
5. General update in presentation to ensure consistency within the policy.
