For nearly a century, Forest & Bird has been the voice for nature in Aotearoa New Zealand. Right now, we are in a climate crisis and nature needs our help more than ever. Forest & Bird is nature's defender, specialising in the protection and restoration of New Zealand's unique wild places and our unique wildlife.

We love our forests, rivers, and marine spaces. We know nature looks after us, providing clean air and fresh water. If we are to thrive, nature must thrive too. 

The Garden to Table Trust builds skills for life through hands-on classes in the garden, the kitchen and the classroom - not only teaching growing and cooking skills but also building awareness of individual and collective responsibility for the environment, healthy eating and community connectedness. We engage the curiosity of students, from the garden soil through to the tasty meals they share at table, helping them discover a love of good food. The programme is curriculum linked, and resources provided for teachers to support their students learn critical thinking across a range of subjects while having hands-on fun in the garden and kitchen.  Each week, across the country, thousands of children are getting their hands dirty and learning how to grow, harvest, prepare, and share fresh, seasonal food.

We provide free information and training, and advocate for policies and services that support people with experience of mental illness, and also their families/whānau and friends. 

Breast Cancer Cure is New Zealand’s only not-for-profit organisation established solely to find a cure for breast cancer. Our mission is to ensure that the next generation can look forward to a future free from the fear of breast cancer. We can’t stop everyone from getting breast cancer, but our aim is to prevent as many cases as possible, for those we can’t prevent, we believe we can turn breast cancer into a disease people live with, not die from. Research will find a Breast Cancer Cure.

Rescuing stranded whales across New Zealand, Project Jonah is a small charity that empowers everyday kiwis to make a difference. Mass strandings of these animals are common around the country, and Project Jonah’s ambitious objective is to ensure well-trained and knowledgeable whale rescue teams are available to respond to every stranding. We provide community training and educational material countrywide to equip boat users, Department of Conservation staff, schools, communities and individuals with the skills they require to identify whales in trouble and act appropriately.

12 babies a week are born in New Zealand with a congenital heart defect – that’s one in every 100 births. A Childhood or Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) is the most common serious birth abnormality in New Zealand needing ongoing medical intervention. There is no prevention or cure for a congenital heart condition, and every year 30-40 heart children will lose their battle and become heart angels.
For more than 30 years, Heart Kids has been supporting families whose worlds have been turned upside down by the news of their child’s heart defect.

The NZ Vegetarian Society is for everybody. We are inclusive of everyone on the vegetarian path, from those reducing their use of animal products to vegans.  Our mission is to increase vegetarianism (including veganism) to reduce cruelty to animals, improve human health, protect the environment and preserve world resources. We do this by encouraging plant-based choices through education, information, support, campaigns and research. The NZ Vegetarian Society was formed in 1943, and we’ve been working hard since then!

The Plunket Foundation is a Charitable Trust established to raise much needed funds for Whānau Āwhina Plunket so  we can help to make the difference of a lifetime for all families and their tamariki.Since it was established in 2008, the Plunket Foundation has invested in programs that support Plunket’s work with communities, with a focus on equity to ensure no child is left behind, and to keep our children safe and healthy.

Leadership New Zealand Leadership New Zealand supports people to transform for the benefit of all New Zealanders. We foster active leadership in successful and purposeful lives, teams, organisations, cultures and communities. We build an exceptional leadership movement and culture through courageous conversations, engaging with New Zealand’s diverse individuals and communities, and creating impactful insights, Programmes and projects. We do this to build positive social, economic, environmental and cultural progress for Aotearoa, as part of global humanity.

Melanoma is the third most common cancer in men and women in New Zealand, with over 4000 New Zealanders diagnosed with melanoma each year. Sadly over 350 New Zealanders die from melanoma each year, which is greater than the road toll, yet if found and treated early enough it is almost always curable.  Melanoma New Zealand is the only charity organisation dedicated to preventing avoidable deaths and suffering from melanoma, by: providing information about melanoma; promoting regular skin checks for early detection, advocating for increased access to high-quality clinical care; being financially sustainable.

Tania Dalton Foundation, created in honour of the sporting legend whose presence would fill the room, has been established to make a meaningful impact on the lives of budding young New Zealanders, guiding them to lead their biggest life - as Tania did. The Foundation supports young New Zealanders, from all circumstances and stages of development, to unlock their talent and their best selves. The goal is to engage with thousands of young New Zealanders across the country through a range of programmes aimed at making a positive and measurable impact on the youth of New Zealand.

Kevin "Chalky" Carr created the Chalky Carr Trust which is raising money to help people who are bound together by a cancer experience in a very practical way.  'Chalky' was working as a Lieutenant Commander for the Royal New Zealand Navy at HMNZS Pegasus in Christchurch when the deadly February 22 earthquake struck.  Heading into the city to do what he could to help, he was subsequently awarded the New Zealand Bravery Medal by the Governor-General for selfless actions and leadership. A lifelong rugby fan, he subsequently got a job with the All Blacks as their logistics manager and was on tour with the team in June 2016 when he fell ill and was diagnosed with wth pancreatic cancer. He died January 2018.

Rainbow Youth works with young people, their whānau and their wider communities to provide safe and respectful support.We practice in a strengths-based model and strive to work in a framework that considers hauora, resilience, cultural identities and individual journeys.
Our support workers can provide face to face support in Auckland, Bay of Plenty, Northland & Taranaki and online everywhere else in Aotearoa. 

Everybody Eats is a pay-as-you-feel dining concept. We take food that would otherwise go to waste and turn it into restaurant-quality meals. Our customers can pay whatever they like, even if it's nothing, for nutritious and freshly prepared food. We aim to be part of solving three huge problems we have in NZ: food waste, food poverty, and social isolation. Everybody Eats is not a soup kitchen, we provide our diners with a three-course meal served at shared tables, which encourages them to interact with our volunteers and other diners. We work almost exclusively with food diverted from landfill, which we get from Food Rescue Charities and supermarkets. NZ's top chefs like Josh Emmet, Michael Meredith and Ben Bayly help us create amazing meals for the whole community to enjoy.

This national charity provides information, advice and support to people diagnosed with any of the more than 140 forms of arthritis. Arthritis affects more than 700,000 New Zealanders and is a leading cause of disability. There is no cure, but the condition can usually be managed effectively. Most people with arthritis continue to lead productive and fulfilling lives.

Animal experimentation is both ethically and scientifically wrong. In fact, the use of animals to try and model the human response to drugs and disease fails over 95% of the time! Our mission is to end animal experimentation and the harmful use of animals for research, testing and teaching in Aotearoa - for animals, humans and science. A world where no animals are subject to cruel and painful experiments, where we have moved away from using the animal model for human medical research, where no more time and money is wasted on flawed research and human and animal health thrives. And this is possible, with your help. Today and in the future, be the voice for animals used in science.

350 Aotearoa is the New Zealand arm of the international climate movement 350.org, which aims to unite the world around climate change solutions. Our mission is to strengthen and grow climate action in communities across New Zealand. We are standing up to the fossil fuel industry to end all coal, oil and gas projects in New Zealand, and calling for a just transition to renewable energy in the hands of our kaitiaki.
